The usual trade-off this setting is trying to avoid

The normal choice on Dream Air in iRacing is resolution versus frame rate — push render resolution up for clarity and you give up frames, or protect frame rate and the image gets softer. The driver setting covered in the video is aimed squarely at that trade-off: it's a change made outside iRacing itself, at the driver level, rather than another in-game slider.

Why four tracks, not one

A setting that only helps on a low-car-count oval isn't a setting worth recommending — so this was tested across four different iRacing tracks with different car counts and visual load, to see whether the frame rate held up consistently rather than just on a best-case track.
